Polytek® achieved this by setting company-wide health and safety goals, introducing new hazardous materials training, and implementing hazard reporting procedures. Partnership Will Promote Safety During Wisconsin Construction Project

Labor Organization Renews Alliance to Protect Electrical Workers

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 55, renewed a four-year agreement to provide training that will help protect the safety and health of electrical utility workers. The focus will be on the recognition and prevention of hazards such as electrocution, fires, explosions and falls; and the development of effective safety and health programs.

Maritime Advisory Committee Holds First Meeting

The Maritime Advisory Committee for Occupational Safety and Health (MACOSH) met June 5-6 in Washington, D.C., to discuss worker safety and health in the shipyard employment, longshoring, and marine terminal industries. The 15 members of MACOSH represent workers, job creators, government agencies, and professional organizations. OSHA Acting Assistant Secretary Loren Sweatt updated MACOSH members on agency activities.
